When they think of making a profit by marketing information products on the Internet, many people start off thinking they’ll develop several different items that cater to several different niches. However, it may be better to take a different approach and leverage your on going list whenever a consumer buys any one of the products you are selling.
If, for example, the niche you’ve decided to cater to is that of fellow Internet marketers. First you will have to develop an information product that could be on “Find Your Niche”. The next thing you will have to do now is create a backend product, which is related to and complements or accompanies your first product.
Now when you are ready to market your second information product, you have a ready list of customers that you could announce it to. If the customers found value in and were impressed with your first product, they are sure to grab this opportunity to buy your next product too.
“There’s gold in the list” is an often heard saying, which holds true for many marketers. These are people whose million-dollar empires have been built by marketing their information products to loyal customers who are on their list. They don’t necessarily have to use new customers.
What is important is to hold on to your existing customers as long as possible and build a loyal client base. Don’t hesitate to pay the mandatory $0.05 click-through in order get across to a paying customer. The potential to make a lifetime profit from this customer could be much more than a $47 one-time sale.
A solid backend strategy that is created based on the needs of the customer is sure to be a huge success. Look for ways of capturing the attention of your customers without letting them know that it is only for the purpose of product creation.
Most people love to tell others their opinion of things. Contacting a customer that is on your list and asking for the person’s input is the best way of find out what it is that your customers are looking for. Once you’ve got this information, you can start creating your information product right away either by outsourcing it to a service provider or working on it yourself. While the work is in the development stage, make sure you keep in constant touch with your existing customers by continuously sending them valuable related information that is free of cost.
Try and avoid giving your customers sales pitch all the time. If you have their names on your auto responder, it would be a good idea to keep sending them bits and pieces of helpful information that they can have access to without having to pay for it. This shows your customers that you care for them and their welfare and are not only after their money. Customers respond positively to this tactic and years down the line would still be willing to pay for the information product you are selling.
