Balboa Island is an excellent place to go to if you are looking for a great experience that is not very expensive. You can get to the Island by ferry from Palm Street to Balboa Peninsula or you can also get there by foot or car from Jamboree Road, which is at the Pacific Coast Highway.

The location and the environment are equally great and house over 80 gift shops, fine restaurants and galleries. You can also find plenty of merchandise being sold by locals on the streets as well as vendors selling delicious hot eats and sweets.

When walking around the island you can get superb views of the beautiful harbor and bay and many extravagant homes. A unique thing about the street signs is that they are all names of precious stones. You will pass by streets with names like Sapphire, Diamond, Topaz and Turquoise. Marine Avenue is the place shoppers love to spend all their time. There are many attractive and unique shops and charming sidewalk cafes here and time can pass by very fast while you indulge in some window shopping.

Marine Avenue is the centre of Balboa Island’s apparel and shopping district and contains several beautiful galleries and impressive boutiques. When in Balboa nobody can resist the impressive Balboa bar, which is made up of vanilla ice cream that has been dipped into chocolate.

The restaurants that are on the Avenue offer different kinds of food. You can get some of the finest Italian food here. Though Balboa has lots of interesting sight seeing opportunities, most people love to come here just for the shopping, which is something nobody should miss.
