How to Dine Out Dirt Cheap!

Well – after a long weekend of arguing about what to do about the debt collectors who keep calling every night, we’ve decided to write a letter to all of them. As far as I know there are four different ones who keep calling, and I just did a search on the internet and learned that anyone who is being harassed by debt collectors can send a letter…there’s a new law as of 2006 called the Fair Debt Collection Act that forces them to stop if you write and demand that they stop contacting you. I’ll be writing a letter to each of them this week.

Meanwhile, it was my wife’s birthday yesterday. I wasn’t sure what to do for her birthday, since we can’t afford much of anything at the moment. But then I remembered that several days ago we’d received a coupon in the mail from a Friendly’s restaurant. My wife had signed up with the “birthday club”, and on your birthday they’ll let you have a free Sunday with any meal. So we decided to go to Friendly’s yesterday for supper.

We had an absolute blast. The kids love it, and we saved a fortune. The kids ordered from the Kid’s Menu – so their meals were only about $4.00 in total and they were able to get free ice cream with it. Then my wife and I split a meal – we ordered a large salad and two plates. The salad was only $6.99.

We ordered water to drink for all of us. In total, all four of us ate a great meal, with 3 free ice cream servings for desert, for only $14.99. That’s only $3.75 a plate!

The key to eating out cheaply is to always order water to drink, and share a plate! They always provide more than enough food for two people. We left the restaurant content, and happy – knowing that we hadn’t spent a fortune eating-out, and my wife had a wonderful birthday with me and the kids.

Tomorrow – I will work on putting together a letter that will make the debt collectors back off. I’ll post the letter here in the blog so that others who are suffering from the same harassment as we are might be able to use it as well.

It is inconceivable that there are people on earth who can be so mean as to call people at all hours of the day, simply to demand money. For so many years people have been complaining that there should be laws against it…well now there are!

More next time!
