Kate Bush records original song 'Lyra' for the New Line Cinema fantasy epic The Golden Compass.

Acclaimed British singer/songwriter Kate Bush will contribute an original song titled "Lyra" to the end title credits of New Line Cinema's upcoming epic fantasy adventure The Golden Compass, which is scheduled for a Dec. 7 worldwide release.

It will also be available for download as part of New Line Records' The Golden Compass soundtrack, which will be released Dec. 11. The song, named for Lyra Belacqua, the lead character in The Golden Compass, is written and produced by Kate in her own studio, and features the Magdalen College Choir, Oxford. It will be heard over the closing credits of the film. In the most recent issue of HomeGround magazine Del Palmer revealed that Philip Pullman (author of the books on which the film is based) had visited Kate at her home earlier this year, and it's known that she is a fan of his work.

Adoption Attorneys

Understanding Domestic Adoptions Another advantage to adopting in the United States is that adoptive parents are more likely to get a newborn if that is what they choose. However, requirements are often more strict. You may be required to attend educational classes designed for adopting parents before being allowed to proceed with the adoption. With this type of adoption, you often also have to be approved by the birth mother. The birth mother, even if she selects you, can change her mind at any time. This can be devastating for potential adoptive parents who had their hearts set on adopting a child. When compared with international adoption, domestic birth mothers are much more involved in the adoption process as a whole.

Frank Hampson, Marvel U.K. and the Landscape Format 1976

In March of 1976 a unique and never to be repeated partnering of the talent of Frank Hampson and the creations of Stan Lee was unleashed. Frank produced a one off pin-up for the popular Marvel weekly 'Super Spider-Man with the Super-Heroes'.

In issue 162 of the title (cover dated March 20th 1976) a one page feature on the legendary Dan Dare artist was published

and in the next issue (163 cover dated March 27th 1976) the two page work was printed as a centre spread special.

(click here for full size image)

In case you were wondering, the odd size is because the comic was one of Marvel U.K.'s reformatting experiments in which two U.S.A. comic pages were printed smaller and side by side on one U.K. page, essentially providing twice as much material as usual. To make it easier to read this way the comic was folded and stapled on what would have been the top of a normal U.K. book, essentially turning th .....

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Actor Adam Sandler said Thursday he would like to work alongside gay-rights groups after starring in this year's 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry'.
In Mexico with co-star Kevin James to promote the film's opening in theaters here, Sandler told a news conference: "If I can help anybody in any
way, I certainly would."
But the 41-year-old comedian stopped short of calling himself a potential gay icon.
"I don't think that's gonna happen, dude, certainly not," Sandler said. "If I was a gay man, I wouldn't want me to represent the gay community."
'Chuck and Larry', scheduled to be released on DVD in the U.S. in November, tells the story of two straight Brooklyn firefighters who pretend to be gay domestic partners for pension benefits. The movie raked in about $35 .....

Here's the poetry (by my significant other) I promised. Hope you like it!

The Human Delusion
(Inspired by Richard Dawkins' book 'The God Delusion")

I am Dawkins' Robot,

Complex in my way, it's true,

But I only exist to serve to serve my genes,

As they are the ones that do.

They allow my sham existence,

Whilst turning to their task

Of striding across the millennia

With a single-minded zest.

From Amoeba to Me they've condescended

To join in Corporate groups,

And even Albert Einstein

Was simply one of the troops.

My life story weaves a fiction

Spun out to delay the truth:

That genes are the be-all and end-all

As enshrined in Dawkins' proof.

Science thus trumps experience,

And I mustn't believe I matter.

Its the little cells who are driving me

In their eternal quest to scatter.

For what is poor Humanity

Save Natural Sel .....

 Making a Start
I decided to make a start at this blog malarkey, so please give me a chance to get warmed up as this is a kind of experiment I'm initially planning to feature some poetry (not my own...I have a friend who's very good in my opinion and deserves to be read by more than two people, three if you count the author)and a few musings of my own. I'm not planning on long entries 'cos I reckon that gets boring and I'd prefer to put up short but regular posts instead. Well, that's it nothing earth shattering today, I'll tell you all about my glamourous and eccentric existence next time.Got to get on with real work now or the wolf will be knockingat the door. Keep spreading the love!Long Nets of White Cloud my Memory

How do you call a week that starts lousy and continues the same? My ex-boss decided to start accusing me of all sorts of things...now i get it why he is an EX-boss but it's still darn frustrating to realize your last paycheck will never arrive and to actually go to my lawyer and do something abt it would be more costly than the money i was supposed to get...so that's how certain ppl remain unpunished and certain writers still frustrated.

Lesson 1: if you are doing well as a freelancer NEVER accept a regular contract. continue to work as a freelancer based on projects. in this way you'll actually get your money when the work is finished. while if you become a regular employee chances are you'll be accused of everything and anything b4 you can do something abt it.
